Choose an individual Touch Plus replacement when a Quest 3 or Quest 3S controller is lost or damaged and the standard tracking system already meets your needs. Consider a Touch Pro pair only when self-tracking outside the headset-camera view, localized haptics, or its extra pressure and gesture inputs solve a specific problem. Touch Pro is not a blanket upgrade for every game.
This comparison uses current Meta developer documentation. It does not claim a hands-on test.

The key difference is tracking architecture
Touch Plus uses the headset and controller sensing system. Touch Pro carries cameras on the controllers, allowing self-tracking when a controller moves outside the headset cameras’ view. This can matter for behind-the-back, beside-the-body, or wide motions. It does not justify claims of perfect tracking: lighting, initialization, firmware, and software remain variables.
Read the full Touch Pro controller review if that edge case describes your use. If your issue is grip security rather than tracking loss, a Touch Plus-compatible grip is a different and less invasive purchase.
Haptics and extra inputs need app support
Meta documents localized haptics at the thumb and index on Touch Pro, while Touch Plus supports hand-level haptics. Touch Pro also exposes stylus pressure, thumbrest force, trigger curl, slide, and proximity data. Developers must implement these signals. A hardware feature should not be counted as a benefit for a particular game until that game’s support is established.
Replacement buying: match the side and generation
The preserved Touch Plus retailer listings are separate left and right controllers. Confirm the hand, that the product is an official Touch Plus replacement, and that the listing identifies Quest 3/3S support. A single replacement is not a pair.

Touch Pro buying: verify the whole set
For a Touch Pro purchase, confirm that both controllers, the charging dock, cable, and required power accessories are included. Check condition and return terms if the listing is used or renewed. Built-in rechargeable batteries make prior use and storage relevant, so do not assume battery condition from cosmetic appearance.

Which should you choose?
Choose Touch Plus when
- You need one direct replacement for Quest 3/3S.
- Standard tracking already works for your applications.
- You prefer replaceable AA power.
Choose Touch Pro when
- Out-of-view controller motion is a demonstrated problem.
- A supported app uses localized haptics or extra inputs.
- You accept rechargeable-controller and dock ownership.
Bottom line
Touch Plus is the practical replacement path; Touch Pro is a specialized system upgrade. Start with the failure or capability you are trying to address, then verify headset firmware, software support, seller, included equipment, and returns.
